Thanksgiving Turkey Job Descriptions
This cracks me up. Kidzworld.com has created a Thanksgiving Turkey Job profile. It's a cute (though admittedly kind of strange) way to teach kids about the history of Thanksgiving. They mention what Thanksgiving Turkey is thankful for: being set free from the turkey farm and being pardoned by the President and moving to Disneyworld…. And what he's not so thankful for: bumpy skin and an ugly neck. I have a feeling that's not all that Mr. Turkey isn't thankful for come Thanksgiving day. It made me laugh but it also reminded me that a lot of people do have jobs where they sometimes feel like a stuffed turkey on Thanksgiving Day. (Or at least don't get recognized often enough.)
So be thankful for all the food service and deli workers who help make your Thanksgiving dinner possible. How about the delivery drivers who get the produce and meats to the grocery stores so that you can purchase items to share a meal together? Or if you go out shopping on Black Friday, be thankful for the retail associates who are there to help you make great purchases. Or the packers in the warehouses that box all the merchandise up so that you can carry it home in a nice box to wrap up as a gift.
There are so many people who affect us without even realizing it. So if you run across these people, be thankful that they're working hard for you to make the holidays possible and more enjoyable!
Happy Turkey Day!
